5 Tips for Work-From-Home Moms
Working from home while being a full-time mama is no small task! Juggling deadlines, meetings, diaper changes, and snack time can feel overwhelming. But with the right strategies in place, you can create a routine that allows you to be both productive at work and present for your little ones. Here are five practical tips to help you thrive as a work-from-home mom.

1. Wake Up Before Your Kids
Starting your day in an organized manner before the chaos begins can set the tone for success. Waking up and jumping straight into mommin’ and work is a recipe for disaster—trust me, I’ve been there!
Use this time to get yourself ready for the day, whether that means working out, spending quiet time with Jesus, or sipping a peaceful cup of coffee before the little feet start running. Check out my post, Why a Morning Routine Is a Game-Changer for Moms, for more inspiration on starting your day with intention!
2. Get Dressed for Work
Even though you’re working from home, taking a few minutes to get ready can make a huge difference in your mindset. You don’t have to go full business attire, but washing your face, getting dressed, and doing a quick hair and makeup routine (if that’s your thing) helps you transition into work mode. It sets a clear mental boundary between home life and work life.
3. Create a Dedicated Workspace
Having a designated workspace—no matter how small—helps reinforce the boundary between “work time” and “mom time.” It also signals to your kids when you need to focus.
For example, my workspace is in the corner of my kitchen, right next to my toddler’s play area. This setup allows me to work while keeping an eye on her. If you have babies or toddlers, consider placing your workspace near their safe play area so they are close but not unattended. One lifesaver for us has been the Dripex Baby Playpen—it gives my little one a secure space to play while I focus on work, and I love knowing she’s safe right next to me!

4. Establish a Work & Kid Routine
Having a routine helps balance caring for your kids while staying on top of work responsibilities. Here’s an example of my daily schedule with my 1-year-old:
Sample Work-From-Home Mom Routine:
☀️ 4:00 AM – Wake up & work out
☕ 4:45 AM – Coffee & quiet time with Jesus
💻 5:30 AM – Work on my side hustle (The Victorious Mama!)
👶 6:15 AM – Toddler wakes up; feed, change, and set up with morning cartoons (usually VeggieTales)
💄 6:45 AM – Get myself ready for the day
🖥 7:00 AM – Clock in for my full-time job while toddler plays in her playpen (see my favorite Dripex Baby Playpen)
🍼 8:45 AM – 15-min break to feed toddler & lay her down for nap
📞 9:00 AM – Back to work (meetings start around 9 AM on most days)
🎈 10:00 AM – Toddler wakes up, snacks and playtime in playpen
🍽 12:00 PM – Lunch break & playtime with toddler
📺 12:30 PM – Back to work; toddler playtime in playpen (with a movie this time if needed)
🍼 2:00 PM – 15-min break to feed toddler & lay her down for nap
📊 2:15 PM – Back to work
🏁 3:30 PM – Workday ends, transition to evening routine
Your schedule will look different depending on your job and kids’ ages, but having a structured routine makes all the difference!

5. Actually Take Your Breaks
When working from home, it’s easy to let work bleed into home life and vice versa. But taking real breaks is essential!
Use your break times to give your kids undivided attention, replenish snacks, change diapers, or simply step away to refresh yourself. Short, intentional breaks help you be more productive and prevent burnout.
Final Thoughts & Encouragement
Balancing work and motherhood isn’t easy, but if God has called you into this season, He will equip you for it. Seek the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and guidance—He will show you the victorious way to do it.
And don’t forget to enjoy the adventure! Instead of focusing on the challenges, see it as an exciting season of growth. Life moves too fast not to find joy in every moment.
