Basking in God’s Acceptance: A Heartfelt Reminder for Moms

Scripture Focus

“To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
— Ephesians 1:6 (KJV)

You Are Not Alone in Feeling Unworthy

Mamas, have you ever felt like you’re just not enough? Maybe it’s the endless to-do list, the mom guilt creeping in, or the overwhelming feeling that you’re falling short. If we’re honest, there are times we don’t feel fully accepted by God either. Instead, we feel condemned—like we’re not measuring up.

As I sit here writing this, I’m surrounded by heaping piles of clothes—some dirty, some clean—scattered toys, half-eaten snacks on the floor, and a kitchen sink overflowing with dishes. And our kitchen table? I’m not even sure it still exists under the mountain of clutter.

It’s so easy for me to slip into self-condemnation. Why can’t I keep up? Why does everything feel so out of control? And this is just what I can see in front of me. If I start thinking about all the other areas where I feel like I’m falling short—my patience, my prayer life, my parenting—I can quickly spiral into guilt and the overwhelming sense that I’m failing not just my family, but God, too.

But here’s the truth: our feelings don’t always tell us the truth. And when it comes to God’s love and acceptance, Scripture—not our emotions or our surroundings—must be our foundation.

Let God’s Word Define Your Reality

Romans 8:1 reminds us:

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus, there is no more condemnation—only grace. Through Christ, you are fully accepted, deeply loved, and made righteous before God.

This isn’t based on:

  • how clean your house is,

  • how patient you are,

  • or how much you “get right.”

It’s based only on the perfect work of Jesus.

More Truth to Anchor Your Heart

Here are some beautiful reminders from God’s Word:

  • 📖 Psalm 103:12“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
  • 📖 Isaiah 43:25“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”
  • 📖 Zephaniah 3:17“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Basking in God’s Love and Acceptance

I love looking up word definitions—they help me gain a deeper understanding of how God’s truth can be experienced in our everyday lives. The word bask means:

  • To lie exposed to warmth and light, typically from the sun, for relaxation and pleasure.

  • To revel in and make the most of something pleasing.

When we understand that we are accepted in the Beloved, we can rest in God’s love and revel in His light.

We don’t have to strive for God’s approval—it’s already ours in Christ.

Think about how amazing it feels to sit in the sunshine after a long winter. You close your eyes, soak it in, and feel restored. That’s exactly what God wants for your soul: rest, refreshment, and joy in His presence.

What a beautiful picture of how we’re invited to respond to God’s love—resting in His presence, soaking in His grace, and delighting in the warmth of His acceptance. When we truly believe we are accepted in Christ, we can stop striving and start basking in His unchanging love.

“We don’t have to strive for His approval—it’s already ours in Christ.”

Letting Go of Guilt & Condemnation

Mamas, let’s stop letting guilt and self-doubt steal our joy. Let’s stop believing the lie that we need to earn God’s acceptance.

Instead of dwelling on our mess, let’s dwell in His mercy. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we can parent, love, and live from a place of freedom and grace.

Practical Steps to Walk in God’s Acceptance

The next time guilt or self-condemnation creeps in, try this:

Stop and Pray – Breathe. Talk to God. Ask Him to speak truth to your heart.
Speak a Scripture Out Loud – Try Romans 8:1 or Zephaniah 3:17.
Remind Yourself of Your Identity – You are loved, chosen, and accepted.
Refocus on His Love – Shift from feelings to truth.

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for fully accepting me in Christ. Help me let go of guilt and condemnation. Teach me to bask in Your love, revel in Your grace, and walk in the freedom You’ve already given me. Thank You for loving me even when I feel like a mess. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Questions

  1. How would your daily life change if you truly believed you were fully accepted by God?

  2. What Scripture can you hold onto when feelings of guilt or unworthiness creep in?

My Favorite Bible Study Tools

If you’re looking to go deeper in your quiet time with the Lord, here are a few of my absolute favorite Bible study tools that help me stay grounded and inspired:

  • 📖 Parallel Study Bible (NKJV & AMP)
I love this Bible because it lets you read both the New King James Version (NKJV) and the Amplified Version (AMP) side-by-side. It’s so helpful for gaining deeper understanding and fresh perspective as you study God’s Word.

  • 📖 Compact KJV Bible
This smaller, travel-friendly King James Version Bible is perfect for tossing in your bag for church, Bible study, or when you’re out and about. I love having God’s Word with me wherever I go!

  • 🖊️ Notebook + Pens
If you’re anything like me, you love having a beautiful notebook and a smooth-writing pen nearby. I use mine to document the truths God is revealing to me, take notes during Bible study, and jot down what the Holy Spirit is speaking to my heart in those quiet, still moments.

These simple tools make it easier (and more fun!) to stay consistent in the Word—even on the busiest of mom days.
